The eGovernment Benchmarking report, which will be published at the end of March, aims to benchmark the performance of forty public sector websites in Ireland and the UK.
Initial results reveal that overuse of inaccessible PDF documents is creating significant difficulties for people with disabilities and undermining government efforts to create an inclusive web presence and achieve full accessibility conformance.
In an attempt to address this and other accessibility issues, iQ Content has added four new accessibility-related workshops to its popular iQ Boot Camp training event. The upcoming iQ Boot Camp will also include Ireland's first ever course specifically designed to help organisations create accessible PDF documents.
The iQ Boot Camp - a unique series of training workshops for web, marketing and information professionals - takes place in Dublin from March 22 - April 2. A total of ten workshops will be delivered over two weeks, each addressing an essential aspect of web optimisation including: creating and managing content, web usability and accessibility, web metrics, search engine optimisation and intranet strategy.
To date, organisations such as AIB, Vodafone, Ernst and Young, Oracle, Enterprise Ireland, Department of Justice, Department of the Taoiseach, the IDA and Revenue have attended iQ Boot Camp workshops and feedback has been hugely positive.
"Web adoption patterns continue to rise, and websites are playing an increasingly important role in organisations' communications and business strategies," says Morgan McKeagney, Managing Director of iQ Content. "Many organisations continue to struggle with the day-to-day management of their websites, however. The iQ Boot Camp helps organisations address these challenges. Our workshops provide busy web professionals with the skills and techniques they need to do their jobs better, and serve their customers better."
