Usability on toast

Instead of our name up in lights, we’ve got it up on toast! We’ve bought a small bit of real estate on the most talked about site of the day, Your Name on Toast
Following on from Seth Godin’s recent post on traffic pyramid pages, we thought we’d take part in this little pyramid scheme, all for a good cause.
Search Engine Optimisation and traffic pyramid schemes
Traffic pyramid schemes are quite simple. The more you pay, the further up the ratings you appear and further pushing up the price of entry.
In this case, the silliest or funniest sites get talked about and attract a good deal of traffic. People are then willing to pay to get a piece of this traffic. However, in SEO terms it’s questionable how much quality traffic you’ll get.
Although it’s all a bit of fun, it’s still important to know what side your bread toast is buttered on.

I totally agree…when we bought a piece of toast, it wasn’t to generate a ROI…It’s purely for fun. Like buying a virtuel softice. But I also believe that what goes around comes around. When you attend a dinner-party, you don’t go because you hope to bag a big account. But maybe there’s a CEO who liked a joke of yours, and then remembers you the next time he places an order… I think it’s about being part of the conversation, for the sake of having fun. Not for the sake of bagging clients. And as you say, there’s a big difference. But one doesn’t always exclude the other..
