BarCamp SouthEast: Introduction to personas
– posted January 17th, 2007 by Laurence Veale One comment
I’ve changed my talk to an introduction to personas, but my slideshow will obviously be putting into practice what I was originally going to be talking about
I’m speaking at Barcamp Southeast this Saturday on Better slideshow presentations.
Why better slideshow presentations?
I wanted to come up with a talk that was relevant to all attendees rather that a on niche subject. I also want to keep it light as it looks as if it’s going to be a busy day.
Who the hell am I to lecture on better presentations?
Good question. I’ve given some pretty awful presentations over the years, some of which I’ll even demonstrate, and I’ve also seen my fair share of poor presentations. So hopefully so I’ve some insights on what makes a good presentation.
What will I be covering?
Another good question. Firstly, what I won’t be covering is public speaking. Instead, I’ll be focusing on getting a decent slide show (Powerpoint or Keynote, for example) together. While I don’t want to give the game away yet, I’ll be discussing presentations under the following headings…
- Who’s the star, you or Powerpoint?
- Bigger is better
- Less is more
- Shorter is sweeter
- Picture versus words x 1000
- Leave the lights on, it’s more fun that way
- Murphy’s Law and Plan B
If you’re there, see you in Waterford! Details of the event are on barcampsoutheast.com.
