Web standards could account for huge savings at AIB

AIB went live with a new homepage today. While not commenting on the usability or information design of the new page, I’ve done a quick case study on the potential benefits of AIB’s adopting web standards on the IIA blog. Hat tip to Michele Neylon whose post alerted me to the new AIB design.

New look and new approach

While there is a new look to the AIB homepage, there is also a new approach in how it was coded: web standards. Although web standards have been around for quite a while, it’s only now that they’re being more widely adopted by the larger organisations in Ireland.

Less code is better code

Most of the time, web standards means leaner code, which can directly contribute to a number of benefits. Head on over to my post on the IIA blog to find out what those benefits actually are.
