Web writing: the value of real-life insights
– posted April 22nd, 2008 by Shane Diffily No comments
For many years, iQ has been delivering a “Writing for the Web 101″ course. Of all our training events this one is consistently over-subscribed.

This indicates 2 things to me:
- That there is a genuine eagerness to learn how to write well.
- That the techniques we provide are compelling.

Resident iQ web writer Elizabeth McGuane hosted the course at this afternoon’s Boot Camp session. As a former journalist with The Sunday Business Post, her practical knowledge proved especially valuable for attendees.
Over coffee, delegate John Staples (pictured)- himself a trained writer - told me that it was good to learn from a “peer”.
In his opinion, her real-life insights gave a veracity to the material that would be lacking from someone with less experience.
