Pardon me?

I accept  air fare add-ons on Ryanair’s website as a dismal fact of life. In fact, I grudgingly admire them. But please, if you’re going to fleece me, at least tell me why, however implausible the explanation.

Ryanair dialogue box

Just to be clear, the dialogue box is telling me why the price for an additional bag (stated as €10) is being increased by 50 per cent (to €15).

The price stated on the website

I suppose when you have run out of good excuses and even bad excuses for duping your customers, the next best thing is to blind them with jargon.

The actual price paid

As a customer experience, it is woeful. As a business tactic (assuming it is one), it is questionable. Yet it works. I paid the €15 because I had no choice. And I will fly with Ryanair again because other airlines often leave me no choice. Grudgingly, I accept my fate and move on…
