Packaging we like

Did you ever notice that computer peripherals like USB drives, mice and memory cards are packaged in impregnable cases as if they were the Crown Jewels? Thick, unyielding plastic that can only be opened with a crowbar?
Hats off then to Logitech. Their universal remote control comes with punter-friendly packaging. The plastic casing is sturdy, but opens easily. No chainsaw required. Other packagers, please take note.

Had a similar experience recently with Sennheiser headphones I bought from Ebay. Super easy-to-open packaging + a quality product = a very happy customer.

Great idea, but until other packagers DO take note… can openers do the trick for safely opening clamshell packaging.

I also hate the impregnable, single sheet of plastic packaging on devices.
I went to find out why some manufacturers do this. The reason?
So that if you buy something, and it is not what you want (but *you* buy it in error), the shop cannot take the merchandise back, since you had to slice through the packaging.
I did not believe it at first, but have been told the same thing by different people in different electronics/computer shops.
On how to open said packaging: I use a stanley knife!
