Why do you need this course?

We understand how important it is to be able to measure the success (or failure!) of your website. Implementing a good analytics programme will help you do this, but it can be difficult to know where to start or what you should be measuring.

This half day workshop will give you a solid grounding in the essentials of setting up a good analytics programme including mapping business goals to your website and being able to interpret your data.

What we'll cover?

Part I: Essential principles of a good web analytics programme

  • Not just reporting data but reporting insight
  • Making a good KPI spreadsheet
  • Communicating KPIs to the rest of the business
  • Actually influencing business decisions
  • Resources: People and Time

Part II: Getting your hands dirty

  • Definitions and terminology
  • Who are your visitors?
  • What do they look at and when?
  • How did they get here? Were your marketing efforts effective?
  • How did they get around your site?
  • Which design is better?

What you'll get out of it?

After attending this course, you will be able to:

  • Convert business strategy into measurable goals for your website
  • Communicate these with the rest of the business and influence business decisions
  • Understand web analytics terminology and data
  • Identify the metrics that matter on your website
  • Confidently interpret your metrics so you can make the right decisions about your website based on real data.

Practical, hands on exercises are a key element of this workshop, leaving you armed with the tools to start your analytics programme straight away.

We'll use Google Analytics to demonstrate, though the principles covered can be applied using any web analytics tool.
