81% of popular UK sites fail accessibility tests

A recent UK Disability Rights Commission accessibility review of 1000 popular UK sites found that 81% failed to reach WAI Priority One standard - the most basic level of provision. In addition, the report warns that 'compliance with the technical guidelines and the use of automated tests are only the first steps towards accessibility: there can be no substitute for involving disabled people themselves in design and testing'. We couldn't agree more.
